Women in STEM Expo at PS 307 – presenters needed

March in Women’s History Month and, P.S. 307 will host its 2nd annual Women in STEM Expo on Thursday, March 22nd from 1 pm – 2 pm.
WISExpo will provide students access to professional women in STEM fields. Whether you are a doctor, professor, business owner, cashier or analyst, we need YOU! We are seeking a variety of women interested in spending an afternoon engaging our students in a discussion your career. No matter the career field, we can connect it to the components of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Our goal is to develop STEM literate members for the workforce. Many of our students are unaware of the career opportunities available to them and this is a fantastic way to provide them with first-hand knowledge of potential career paths. This is also a great way for you to make an impact on our students’ future. It is imperative that our students become STEM literate as early in their educational life as possible.
You are cordially invited to make a career presentation between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018.

Presentations should be between 15-20 minutes in length. You will present to students ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. The recommended format includes: your education/training, personal and professional skills necessary in your field, typical day in your field, related STEM components, related school subjects, child friendly games and presentations, and hands on activities or visuals, etc.
