Big Idea Week 2017

This year, P.S. 307 hosted Year Five of Big Idea Week, May 15th – 19th.  On Monday, May 15th mentors from tech, media and design companies such as BioLite, Flocabulary, MakerBot, Pensa and United Wind shared with students their expertise and challenge them to work together in groups over the next three days to think of a problem which exists in their daily lives, their community or the world and design a solution to solve this problem.

Design ideas ranged from outdoor air purifiers to diminish/eliminate second-hand cigarette smoke, a variety of backpacks for students and travelers with built-in organizer pockets, cooling and heating features, recycling compartments and massagers.

Over the coming weeks, students will have an opportunity to visit the offices of our mentors and engage in Q and A sessions with other employees of the company.
