Arts Enrichment

Music

The music department offers three opportunities to be in a performing ensemble: the North Brooklyn Children’s Choir, the P.S. 307 Instrumental Band, and the “Little Kids Rock” ensemble. The choir gives children the chance to use their voice while learning material for 2 concerts each school year. The P.S. 307 Instrumental Band provides flutes, clarinets, trombones, trumpets, and alto saxophones, requiring no prior experience to join. The “Little Kids Rock” ensemble offers electric guitar, bass, drum set, vocals, and keyboard. Students audition at the beginning of the year for these groups, and perform in school wide assemblies throughout the year.

Violin Program

The violin program provided by the Noel Pointer Foundation is a not-for-profit that dramatically enriches the lives of children by developing string music education programs. The Noel Pointer Foundation’s violin program at P.S. 307 begins in Grade 2 and students receive instruction through Grade 5. They will learn the discipline of a string instrument, music theory and history.

Young Scholars at P.S. 307

The Young Scholars program is an after-school program for fourth and fifth graders offered by the Brooklyn Historic Society.  Students will work with a History Program Educator to uncover the history of our school community, Vinegar Hill and the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  The students will create a book to share with the P.S. 307 community for years to come.  Young Scholars meet every Monday and Wednesday from 2:30pm to 4:15pm.  If you have questions regarding the Young Scholars program, please contact Ms. Roderique at lroderique@schools.nyc.gov.
