A look into our new MakerSpace

This P.S. 307 MakerSpace is a place where students have an opportunity to explore their own interests; learn to use tools and materials, both physical and virtual; and develop creative projects.  A space that provides hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they deeply engage in science, engineering and tinkering.
We held our first Maker Family Night last week! Families had the chance to work with their children to complete an Engineering Design Challenge.  Their challenge was to construct a marble run that would prevent the marble from falling and to then create something to catch the marble at the end.  The challenge had to be completed with the assortment of materials provided in the MakerSpace.  Families used the Engineering Design Process to organize their thinking and guide them throughout the process of creating their prototype. True engineering at work!
Please join us next month for Family Maker Night on June 18th from 3:45-4:45 pm in the Maker Space Room 349 for a new exploration! All are welcome! We look forward to seeing you there!
